Jhimkali Thapa
My name is Jhimkali and Foundation Nepal’s health post saved the life of my daughter.

I am 39 years old, and have given birth to eight children, of which seven have survived. I have only been able to afford to send two of my children to school. We have 1/4 of an acre of wet land and 3/4 of an acre of dry land to produce food for our family, which only produces enough food for two months of the year. Luckily in Maila, where I live, the World Food Programme operates, so we can get some additional food from them. My husband works as a stone mason which gives us some cash income. But even with this help, I cannot feed the children sufficiently, and they suffer from malnutrition. As a result, my children frequently fall ill. Severe fever nearly killed my youngest daughter, Dipukali, recently, but luckily we have a health post run by Foundation Nepal, and she was fully recovered after five days.
I work on average 13 hours per day, mainly farming, water and wood collection. There is no safe drinking water or electricity in our village. I would like to educate all of my children properly, and for my husband to earn more income through skills training, and hope that Foundation Nepal will be able to assist us in these areas in the future.
