About Us
Foundation Nepal was founded by Nicky Deasy in 2006 to help the most vulnerable in impoverished Nepali villages to work their way out of poverty. Nicky takes no remuneration for her full-time work.
The empowerment of women and low caste families lies at the heart of our approach. We support local communities with food production, micro-finance and micro-business, as well as healthcare and education. We’re not into short-term gain. Instead, we assist communities to lay the groundwork for a truly self-sufficient future, which involves empowering local people and working holistically.
Governed by a voluntary Board of Directors, Foundation Nepal has staff based locally in Nepal and at our head office in Galway, Ireland. Volunteers play a large part in our success and are instrumental in keeping our costs down.
