Low batteries

HI guys

Hope you are all keeping well.  Things are ticking along here.  Just finalising our application to our philantropist which will go off today, and the newsletter is at the printers and will go out to everyone on Friday.  Hopefully we will get in some donation income off the back of it. Irish Aid have been back with some queries on our application, and I'm trying to finalise who will do the voice-over for our adds on NewsTalk, so these things are keeping me busy.

Irish Aid

Hi guys

Well, after a herculean effort on the part of Amber, Nirmala, Tara and myself, our proposal to Irish Aid went in last Friday 11th June.  We worked last week until the small hours of the morning each day to get it finished.  Poor Amber in particular was absolutely exhausted.  I'm just beginning to get back to normal today.  I think it's in great shape, so we will hear back in mid September if we have secured funding.  Fingers crossed!

Crowd estimation - Guinness World Record - help!

Hi guys

It's a lovely Friday afternoon here, and I took myself and my computer and Donagh up to Achill yesterday to work from here, as the weather forecast is good.  I'm looking out the window here as I type, and it's fabulous.  The sea looks so blue, and the colours of the yellow gorse, purple heathers and the rusty brown of the mountains are so vivid.  I'm looking forward to a quiet weekend and recharging the batteries.  Donagh actually slept ;ast night from about 10pm to 7.30am, a real record!

Irish Aid

Hi guys

I had a long meeting with Sinead Walsh of Irish Aid in their offices in Limerick yesterday.  She very kindly gave me almost 2.5 hours of her time (I couldn't believe the time when I got out of the meeting!), and we had a long and robust discussion about our programmes, Nepal, and lots of other things.  She is heading over to Nepal in April on a monitoring trip, and she worked with Concern in India and Pakistan, so she has a good understanding of the issues.
